Wave The Week

Wave The Week is for everybody who carried the week on their back. The alarm at six. The bus that went straight past in the rain. The boss looking for someone to blame. Rent and bills that know your name. Everybody asking for help, and you saying yes until you forget about you.

Then Friday comes round. Press the dress, a little perfume, through the door. The DJ sees your face and knows exactly what you came for.

Hand up high, and wave goodbye. Slow and heavy, wine it round.

A dance with a reason

The chorus is an instruction as much as a hook. Put your hand on your chest and breathe out. Put it up high and hold it there. Then wave the whole week goodbye. It is built so a full room can do it together, the same move at the same time, and feel the weight come off in one go.

Four women, one routine

The animated video follows four women through the week: a nurse on a twelve hour shift, a woman in an office taking the blame, one counting coins at a market stall, one asleep against a bus window. By the chorus they are a group, getting ready around one mirror, walking in arm in arm, and hitting the same routine from every angle on the floor. It ends on a rooftop at sunrise with their shoes in their hands.
